A leakage report identified significant volumes of unaccounted for water at Newcastle racecourse. The racecourse had a vast network of old pipes susceptible to leaks and wastage.
This lead to Newcastle racecourse paying their water company approximately £80,000 per year more than they needed to be whilst wasting water.
Having passed through the water company’s revenue meter, this was a problem that the racecourse needed diagnosing and solving on site.
The Solution
Having carried out site visits and agreed a detailed scope of work, we utilised the very latest high tech equipment to provide an innovative solution that included a zero emission directional drilling rig, capable of directional changes 300m below ground, producing less noise, less disruption and less impact on the environment.
Our highly experienced Keltek team were able to install new sections to the site’s potable water mains infrastructure including supply, preparation, installation, reinstatement and commissioning of replacement water mains, valves and washout valve sets, fire hydrants, and AMR metering.
During the works, the team were also able to decommission the second mains supply as well as locate and pick up new supplies and points of entry.
The Result
All works were delivered on time and on budget and with no disruption to Newcastle Racecourse’s daily events.
The new water infrastructure ensures water control and monitoring is back under control. This work will continue to deliver significant and measurable savings of both water and money for many years to come.
